This qualification aims to provide the learner with the knowledge, skills and understanding to support the transportation of animals by road on short journeys (over 65km and up to 8 hours duration).

Course Description

Course Over-view:  This qualification will ensure you mee thte requirements for a certificate of competence which is outlined in the Council Regulation (EC No1/2005) on the protection of animals during transport and the welfar of Animals.

Please be advised that there is no formal attendance for the learning part of this qualification. Once purchased candidates will be contacted and provided learning materials for their chosen animal/animals and learning materials will be sent through to you. Once candidates feel ready they will be required to contact the college and book in for their formal online assessment.

Our qualification will be suitable for candidates who are transporting the following animals;

  • Horses
  • Cattle
  • Cattle&Sheep
  • Sheep
  • Pigs
  • Goats

The online assessment will be multiple choice based and your formal qualification will be the City&Guilds Level 2 Award in the Transport of Animals by Road (Short Journeys). The assessment will take place at Askham Bryan College - York.
