NB. Candidates must have already achieved City & Guilds NPTC chainsaw maintenance & cross-cutting (CS30) in order to be assessed on this unit.

Course Description

This course is designed for experienced chainsaw operators who intend to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities. It is suitable for those seeking contractual work in professional forestry, amenity or arboricultural activities which is likely, immediately or at some future date, to involve felling trees over 200 mm (15”) in diameter.

Course Content

  1. Cross-cut timber using a chainsaw
  2. Fell and process trees up to 380mm
  3. Know relevant health and safety legislation and industry good practice regarding felling trees up to 380mm
  4. Remove branches from felled trees using a chainsaw
  5. Take down hung-up trees

Entry Requirements

Candidates must have already achieved City & Guilds NPTC chainsaw maintenance & cross-cutting (CS30) in order to be assessed on this unit.

The minimum age limit for Candidates taking Certificates of Competence is 16 years. There is no upper age limit. The training course has physical demands and requires the carrying and movement of equipment in woodland and forest environments.
